About

Personalised care, delivered in the home you love.

Lauren founded Better Living Occupational Therapy in 2023 after years working across hospitals, community health, and assistive technology services throughout Melbourne. Trained at Monash University, she has worked directly with older adults and their families for almost a decade — helping people recover after surgery, manage chronic conditions, and stay safe and independent at home.

Lauren started Better Living because she saw how much of a difference the right support, delivered in someone's own home, could make — not just to a person's safety, but to their confidence and independence. Today she works directly with families across South East Melbourne and with Support at Home providers, bringing the same hands-on, personalised approach to every visit.

Services

Thoughtful, evidence-based support — at every step.

Each service starts with a conversation and a home visit. You'll always know what to expect, and what comes next.

Functional Assessments

A functional assessment evaluates how you are managing your everyday activities, from personal care and meal preparation through to mobility and transfers. Your Occupational Therapist will identify where you are managing well and where additional support is needed, informing care plans and funded support arrangements.

Assistive Technology (AT) Assessment

An assistive technology assessment helps identify the right equipment to support your independence and safety at home. Your Occupational Therapist will assess your needs and provide tailored recommendations — from everyday aids like shower chairs and dressing tools through to powered wheelchairs and complex seating systems.

Home Safety Assessments & Modifications

A home safety assessment is a thorough evaluation of your home, identifying barriers to safety, accessibility, and independence. Where modifications are needed, we provide detailed clinical recommendations covering both minor and major works — grab rails, ramps, step modifications, accessible bathrooms and showers, widened doorways, and handrails.

Clinical Reporting

Detailed reports that support funding approvals.

Following every assessment, a detailed clinical report is provided outlining findings and recommendations. Reports are written to meet the requirements of the Support at Home Program and Home Care Packages, facilitating funding approvals for assistive technology and home modifications.

Falls Prevention

Education, training, and practical supports to reduce falls risk and build confidence with everyday movement.

Carer & Family Education

Guidance and training for family members and carers, so the people supporting you feel confident too.
